With this end of year message, I would like to provide members with updates on a few topics relevant for the community and most notably the final summary from the 2017 ICAIL conference.
The IAAIL Executive Committee was delighted with the success of the 2017 edition of the International Conference on AI and Law, whose highlights are listed below.

The FLS - Future Lawyer Summit (29 May 2018) is a one-day event taking place at one of the most contemporary venues in the City of London - etc. venues St Paul's, United Kingdom.
The conference gathers Director of Innovations/Business Transformation, IT Directors, Managing and Senior Partners representing small, medium-sized and the Legal 500. This year the FLS is pleased to announce that we are inviting the in-house legal counsels to our legal innovation discussion. We will be looking at ways to introduce better collaborative practices to deliver top-tier legal performance by both private practice and in-house teams.
FLS provides the platform for legal technology vendors and consultancies to equip the modern lawyer with the tools to be a tech-step ahead.

The International Association for AI and Law (IAAIL) is soliciting bids to host the 17th International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Law (ICAIL) in 2019. Whilst we will consider bids from all geographical regions, for 2019 we particularly encourage bids from outside Europe since the 16th edition of the conference was hosted in Europe.
ICAIL is the biennial official conference of the International Association for Artificial Intelligence and Law (IAAIL – www.iaail.org), whose aim is to provide a forum for the presentation and discussion of the latest research results and practical applications and to stimulate interdisciplinary and international collaboration.

The Legal Text, Document and Corpus Analytics workshop (LTDCA 2016) took place at the University of San Diego School of Law on Friday, June 17th. Also known as “Law & Big Data II,” the workshop was hosted by USD’s Center for Computation, Mathematics and the Law (CCML). IAAIL members Karl Branting, Ted Sichelman and Jack Conrad were among the workshop’s organizers.
